JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs fell on the road Sunday afternoon against Jacksonville State University. The Bulldogs gave up four points in the first half and lost 4-0 to Jacksonville State.
Jacksonville State was aggressive from the start, and the Gamecocks scored in the fifth minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Gumcocks won 4-0 over the Bulldogs, scoring in the 15th, 31st and 39th minutes. Tech was outscored 17-2 at the half, and Jacks State also had 10 corner kicks in the first half, the most by any opponent in the first half this season.
LA Tech’s two first-half shots came from forwards Avery Kyle and Grace Clay.
Late in the second half, Tech’s defense was solid, holding Jacks State scoreless in the second half. In the second half, the Shamcocks outscored the Bulldogs 9-7. Forward Kyla Taylor led Tech with three shot attempts, but one shot remained on target. Goalie Sarah Mellen made seven saves on the day despite giving up 26 shots. Mellen started five games and recorded five or more saves in four games.
“We fell asleep in the first half and Jacksonville State took advantage of our lack of energy. We were more competitive in the second half, but we still have work to do offensively,” Votorz said.

Louisiana Tech will play Sam Houston on Sunday at Robert Mac Carruthers Field. The game between the Bulldogs and Bearkats begins at 1 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN+.
