HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – The annual Nebraska Kids Fitness and Nutrition Day was held Tuesday at the YMCA in Hastings.
This event aims to teach children the importance of nutrition and exercise.
Approximately 400 fourth grade students from Hastings and surrounding schools visited the Hastings YMCA to learn.
The event was sponsored by the South Hartland District Health Department and the YMCA.
The event included students from St. Michael’s, Adams Central, Sandy Creek, Lincoln Elementary School, Hawthorne, Silver Lake, Watson, Lawrence Nelson, Blue Hill and Red Cloud.
Hastings YMCA Child Care Director Christine Bischoff said she is excited to help children learn how to lead successful and healthy lives.
“I think it’s really great to see kids come together and develop and teach healthy habits that will hopefully last a lifetime,” Bischoff said. “Exercising and eating healthy aren’t bad. It’s definitely good for you and can be a lot of fun.”
