Smartwatches have reigned supreme as wearable technology for the past few years, but smart rings are all the rage right now. Samsung’s Galaxy Ring is the first major smartphone manufacturer to add to the smart ring space, and while it’s the first major brand, it’s not the first smart ring to hit the market. Some smart rings, like the Oura Ring, have been released for several years now. That means it’s mostly bug-free and tried and tested in 2024.

The smart ring tracks the same things as a smartwatch, including steps, sleep, and an overview of your overall health. They tend to have significantly longer battery life than smartwatches and don’t have distracting screens. Similar to smartwatches, the best smart rings on the market have proper vitals tracking and a notification system that alerts you when something is wrong, which can also help save lives. Here are three of my favorite smart rings that can track your fitness and even save your life.

As the smart wearables market continues to expand, several innovative options are emerging that offer unique features tailored to different user needs. We take a look at the distinguishing features of four notable smart rings: Oura Ring 4, Samsung Galaxy Ring, and RingConn Gen 1. From advanced sleep tracking features to budget-friendly options, each ring represents a distinct value proposition that addresses different needs. lifestyle and preferences. We also look at pricing and compatibility to help you make an informed decision.

oura ring 4

If you’re looking for the best smart ring on the market that does everything you want with easy setup, consider the Oura Ring 4. This is a new release that started shipping on October 15th and is available for pre-order. Priced at $350, it’s $50 more expensive than the previous Oura Ring 3. Available in 4 different colors and 4 different size options.

Oura Ring 4 comes with a suite of fitness-focused features, including a workout heart rate tracker that syncs with Oura’s desktop and mobile apps to track calories burned, active and inactive time, and heart rate. You can view detailed analysis of numbers. One of the most famous features of the Oura Ring 4 is its excellent sleep tracking ability that can measure and record night-time body temperature changes, blood oxygen levels, and sleep cycle stages.

However, it is expensive at $350. I’ve seen the price of the Oura Ring go up with every revision, but I think Oura has done a great job justifying the new price point with new features. It’s only a $50 price increase over the Oura Ring 3, and it’s worth considering as it’s a better ring. However, one downside to the Oura Ring 4 is that you have to pay an additional $6 for the Oura Ring subscription service to store your ring analytics.

The best smart ring for Android smartphone users

samsung galaxy ring

If you have an Android smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Ring is a great choice for a smart ring. Samsung’s Galaxy Ring is priced at $400 and will be released in summer 2024, and has many of the same features as the Oura Ring 4. However, unlike the Oura Ring 4, the Galaxy Ring takes sleep tracking a step further. Samsung has developed a unique AI algorithm to determine your sleep quality and provides a daily sleep score.

Your health data is stored in the Galaxy Health app and available directly from your Android smartphone. It is important to note that Galaxy Ring is only compatible with the Android operating system. Unfortunately, IOS owners do not have access to the Galaxy Health app. Galaxy Ring is compatible with other devices in the Samsung gadget ecosystem. This means if you have a Samsung smartwatch, it will share data with your Galaxy Ring. However, this compatibility comes at a cost, with the most expensive smart ring on this list costing $400.

best smart ring on a budget

Ringcon 1st generation

RingConn Gen 1 offers some of the high-end features of the Oura ring without the monthly subscription fee. This is also the cheapest smart ring on this list at $280, but it often goes on sale. Available in 3 colors and 10 size options, it can be worn on any size finger.

RingConn Gen 1 has the ability to track stress and general health. It also features vital tracking such as sleep tracker, activity counter, heart rate tracker, blood oxygen monitor, and temperature sensor. Reviewers note that while the RingConn Gen 1 does a good job of tracking health information, an activity tracker could be more accurate. And while it doesn’t have as many features as competing Oura-branded smart rings, you can save a little on extra fees and subscription fees.

Overall, the RingConn Gen 1 is a great entry-level smart ring. While it’s not as feature-packed as some of its competitors, it’s also affordable and a great way to see if a smart ring is right for you. If you like the RingConn Gen 1, you can always upgrade to another smart ring, but I think this is a great starting point for most people in the smart ring world.

Features Oura Ring 4 Samsung Galaxy Ring RingConn Gen 1 Ideal for general health tracking and detailed sleep data Android users looking for advanced health tracking Budget-conscious users with basic health tracking Price $350 $400 $280 (most affordable Price) Advanced Analytics Subscription $6/month No No Sleep Tracking Superior sleep tracking, temperature changes, blood oxygen, sleep cycle stages Advanced AI sleep scoring and analysis Basic sleep tracking Heart rate monitoring Yes (more info) , with workout tracking) Yes (advanced, integrated with Samsung ecosystem) Yes, but basic blood oxygen monitoring ○ ○ ○ Stress/health monitoring ○ ○ ○ Battery life Multi-day (typically about 4-7 days) Multi-day Multi-day Compatibility iOS and Android Android only iOS and Android Advanced features Detailed fitness analytics, workout heart rate AI-driven sleep algorithm tracking, Galaxy ecosystem integration Basic tracking, no advanced features Colors and sizes 4 Color, 4 size options Variety of 3 colors, 10 size options Unique Benefits Perfect for detailed sleep and health tracking Perfect for Android users, seamless integration Best budget-friendly option

Each of these smart rings offers unique features, with Oura Ring 4 being the most advanced in terms of detailed sleep tracking, Samsung Galaxy Ring being best suited for Android users, and RingConn Gen 1 being the most budget-friendly. It stands out as a gentle option.

Cart important points

Smart rings are the latest thing to take hold in the wearable technology space. These rings monitor your health like a smartwatch and also track your vitals in detail. A smart ring can alert you to heart rate problems before you notice them, potentially saving lives in a medical emergency. Since the release of the Samsung Galaxy Ring, more and more big brands are finding ways to enter the smart ring space, and it’s an exciting time to see what the future holds for smart rings. Perhaps in the near future, Google, Apple, and others will release smart rings.
