Arts and Culture Career Fair opens doors to long-term careers in creative fields

LEXINGTON, Ky. (October 29, 2024) — The University of Kentucky College of Arts Management is hosting an Arts and Culture Career Fair on Sunday, November 13th from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Ballroom A of the Gatton Student Center. Masu. .

All UK undergraduate and graduate students have the opportunity to network with potential employers from more than 20 organizations, including KET, Carnegie Center, FilmLEX, Gateway Regional Arts Center, and Lexington Theater Company.

This event is more than just a chance to secure an internship, said Professor Rachel Shane, Gary B. Knapp Arts Management Endowment Chair. It is designed to highlight the diverse career paths available to those pursuing a degree in the arts and creative industries.

Participating organizations span a variety of disciplines including performing arts, visual arts, film design and arts education, showcasing a wide range of opportunities in the arts and culture sector.

“Building a career in arts and culture is more than just finding an internship. It’s about discovering how your education can lead to meaningful, long-term professional growth.” Shane said. “We are excited to connect our students with arts professionals who can inspire and guide them as they begin their journey into the arts and creative fields.”

Students will have the opportunity to meet and interact with industry leaders and gain valuable insight into how to build a sustainable and fulfilling career in arts and culture after graduation.

The Arts and Culture Career Fair is part of the department’s broader commitment to workplace development and fostering lasting connections between the academic community and the professional arts world. The fair is open to all UK students. The dress code is business attire, and participants are asked to bring a printed version of their resume and a digital version of their work samples.

Students can register online for free.

The University of Kentucky’s College of Arts Management strives to develop and advance a strong arts and cultural workforce through education, research, and service.

Founded in 1987, the department offers one of the most comprehensive curricula in the country. The Arts Administration degree program prepares students for the challenges they will face as arts professionals, with alumni working locally in England, across the state at the Kentucky Performing Arts Center and the Kentucky Historical Society, and nationally on Broadway in New York, Washington, D.C.
