Five former San Diego State players have been released by NBA teams, but at least two are set to join NBA G League teams.

Matt Bradley and Jordan Shekel signed with the Houston Rockets and Boston Celtics but were waived on Saturday, NBA.com reported.

The Rockets’ G League team is the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, and Boston’s team is the Maine Celtics. The team, which will begin play in November, has not yet announced its roster.

USA Today’s Rocketwire reported that Bradley would be a member of the Vipers, while Hoops Rumors reported that Schakel was slated to return to the Celtics’ G League team.

The San Antonio Spurs have parted ways with two former Aztec players, Malachi Flynn and Nathan Mensah, who they signed two months ago. The Minnesota Timberwolves waived Jadon Reedy on October 2nd.

Bradley, who transferred to SDSU from the University of California, was part of the 2023 team that reached the championship game in the NCAA Tournament. Schakel played for the Aztecs for four years prior to the 2020-21 season, appearing in two tournaments.

Reedy broke out last season as SDSU advanced to the Sweet 16 in the conference, and Mensah was a standout defensive player through the 2022-23 season.

Flynn led a strong team in 2019-20 that missed March Madness due to the start of the coronavirus lockdown. The guard was drafted by Toronto in 2020 and spent time in the NBA with the Raptors, Knicks and Pistons.
