(WO) – Baker Hughes has been awarded a contract to supply Saipem with an advanced compression solution for TotalEnergies’ Kaminho Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) project in Angola, the company announced on Tuesday. The deal is expected to be booked in the third quarter of 2024.
Baker Hughes’ centrifugal BCL compressor and integrated compressor line (ICL) technology was selected for its ability to minimize emissions, eliminate routine flaring, and reinject associated gases into reservoirs for storage. .
The all-electric Kaminho project is the first large-scale deepwater development in the Kwanza Basin and consists of converting a very large crude carrier (VLCC) into a floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSO). Start of production is set for 2028, with production expected to reach 70,000 bopd.
“Angola’s all-electric Caminho FPSO project is an important example of sustainable energy development, leveraging proven technology to reduce the country’s carbon footprint and provide vital energy supplies. ” said Alberto Mattucci, Vice President Gas Technology. Baker Hughes Equipment, Industrial and Energy Technologies. “Baker Hughes is proud to contribute our extensive offshore experience and our cutting-edge low-emission compression technology to support TotalEnergies, Saipem and our Block 20/11 partners on this important project. ”
This award builds on Baker Hughes’ positive momentum in the offshore sector, with recent work on two major offshore topside projects providing power generation systems for two innovative large all-electric FPSO units in Latin America. won the contract. Also this year, Baker Hughes won a major gas technology equipment contract in Algeria, further strengthening its involvement in critical energy infrastructure projects across multiple regions.
