FLATZ – The Georgia Tech golf team, ranked No. 17 in the Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll, continues its fall 2024 schedule with the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational on Monday and Tuesday. It will be contested at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
Tech is coming off an impressive win at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational just a week ago. In the tournament, the Yellow Jackets defeated No. 2 Arizona State by a stroke over a field of 15 teams, including 11 other teams in the top 25. Redshirt junior Benjamin Reuter (Naarden, Netherlands) took second place individually.
The 15-team field includes Tech (17th in the current Bushnell/GolfWeek Coaches Poll), Auburn (1st), Vanderbilt (4th) and North Carolina (16th), who have advanced to match play in the NCAA. Includes 4 teams. Twelve teams competed in stroke play at the championship last May. Also in contention are eight other programs ranked in the top 25 in the preseason Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll.
Each team will play 36 holes on Monday, with the shotgun start beginning at 9 a.m. ET and the final round beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Head coach Bruce Hepler, entering his 30th year at the helm of the Tech program, named four golfers who played key roles in leading the Yellowjackets to their second consecutive NCAA Championship semifinal appearance in 2024. Tai (Singapore), who brought back the current NCAA champion Hiroshi among them, achieved a one-shot victory in Carlsbad, Calif., last May, becoming Polytechnic University’s fourth national collegiate champion.

Ty’s lineup this weekend includes Reuter, who has 17 collegiate tournament finishes and two top-10 finishes, freshman Albert Hansson (Fiskebaskir, Sweden), who averaged less than 71 strokes in six rounds, and sophomores. will be joining. At Olympia Fields, all five athletes finished 37th or higher out of 78 athletes. Ty (T-25) and Kim (T-73) are the only Yellow Jackets to compete in last year’s Ben Hogan event.
Tournament Information – The Yellow Jackets will be appearing in the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational for the third time, finishing 12th in 2023 and 8th in 2023 in their previous two appearances. Christ Lamprecht won a share of the individual title last fall, and Hiroshi Tai finished tied for 25th, leading among the three returning Jackets players.
The tournament, hosted by TCU, will be held at Colonial Country Club, which hosts PGA Tour events each year. It plays a par of 70 and measures 7,289 yards.
