After a scoreless first half, Matlock scored on a touch-and-go pass from Tal Feingesigcht, and defender Kari Matlock gave Tech a 1-0 lead. UTEP forward Ana Quintero scored in the 65th minute to make the game 1-1. Shots from Jones and Curry McKinney couldn’t find the back of the Bulldogs’ net. In the 86th minute, UTEP’s Mina Rodriguez scored from a corner kick to give the Miners a 2-1 lead. Kyla Taylor gave the Bulldogs a chance to tie the score, but her shot was saved by UTEP’s goalie. Rutledge made two more saves in the second half after giving up 13 shots.

“We came in with a purpose and took the lead. We lost the lead due to one personal mistake and then we lost focus. We had chances and I’m disappointed for our seniors.” Volz said.
