RUSTON – Louisiana Tech Softball will open the 2025 season by competing in the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The event, sponsored by Triple Crown Sports, will run from February 6th to 9th, as announced by Triple Crown on Friday.

The Bulldogs will be featured in the first of two sessions, joined by Florida State, Oklahoma State and Northern Colorado.

OSU is coming off a College World Series appearance, and FSU has advanced to the Super Regional.

LA Tech previously competed in the 2018 Puerto Vallarta College Challenge, competing against Nevada State (twice), Long Beach State University and James Madison State (twice).

The event, now in its 9th year, will once again be held over two sessions along Mexico’s charming and sunny Pacific coast. The match will take place at Nancy Almaras Stadium.

The Puerto Vallarta College Challenge began in 2015 and has evolved into one of the premier tournaments to kick off the softball season. This is the first DI softball event held outside of the United States and includes programs from well-known “power” conferences, mid-major powerhouse schools, and in 2020, Mexico’s Olympic team will also play in the tournament. All matches will be streamed by FloSoftball.
