KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) – Children’s Organization of Nebraska has opened a new mental health facility for children in Kearny.
The new facility was introduced around 3 p.m. Monday to provide care to youth experiencing depression, anxiety and behavioral health issues.
According to Children Nebraska, one-third of Nebraskans do not have a behavioral health provider, and this new clinic will be the beginning of help for young people.
Renee Lafferty, executive vice president of Nebraska Children’s Services, said this is a step toward better and safer youth.
“We are increasing access to care for youth and their families. We know that nationally more than 20% of youth experience behavioral health symptoms. We’re preventing them from struggling and making sure they get care right away. That’s what we’re doing and expanding in the central Nebraska region,” Rafferty said.
“We are an education and knowledge platform, and this is just one more, this is one more, this is one more resource,” said McKenna, co-founder of McKenna’s Ray of Hope Foundation. Rhonda Johnson said.
Rafferty said the new facility is the first walk-in clinic of its kind in Nebraska.
The facility is scheduled to officially open this summer.
