SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Recharge Massachusetts held its “Careers and Clean Futures in Western Massachusetts” event at Springfield Technical Community College.
The event focused on encouraging the community to transition to electric vehicles and consider employment in the electrification sector. This was all part of an effort to continue the transition to clean energy in the United States. To that end, the organization allowed guests to take test rides at local dealerships, try out e-bikes, and even learn more about electrification at a career fair.
Stephanie Dorman of Recharge America told 22News: You can talk to EV owners to find out what EVs are like. How to charge, how to charge on the go or at home, and what is the communication range? As technology advances, new vehicles coming out will have even longer ranges. ”
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, electric vehicles can reduce fuel costs because their electric drive components are more efficient. EVs also have flexible charging capabilities because there is a power grid near most places where people park. The department said energy-efficient vehicles, such as hybrid and electric vehicles, support the U.S. economy while diversifying America’s transportation options.
The United States plans to reach net-zero emissions by 2050, and electric vehicles could help get there, according to Recharge Massachusetts. The organization predicted that by 2030, half of all new cars will be electric vehicles.
The STCC president told 22News it is important that people are aware of all the opportunities available when it comes to electric vehicles.
“Springfield Technical Community College is proud to have the opportunity to serve as president of Springfield Technical Community College,” said John B. Cook, president of Springfield Technical Community College. And how can we ensure that people have access to these opportunities? ”
