CLEVELAND – The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland has named Damjan Pfeifal to head the bank’s Center for Inflation Research. Pfazifal will oversee a team of economists studying inflation. He will also lead efforts to expand the center’s inflation-related resources for researchers, policymakers, and the public.
Mr. Fazifal joins the Bank from the Federal Reserve Board, where he spent 10 years in the Financial Affairs, Research and Statistics Division, most recently as Group Manager in the Financial Research Division. His research focuses on inflation, macroeconomics, and financial economics. He has published widely in top economic journals and has extensive research experience focused on inflation expectations.
Pfazifal holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Ljubljana, a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Warwick, and a PhD in Economics from the University of Cambridge.
The Center for Inflation Research publishes several common inflation measures and surveys, as well as research, including daily inflation “nowcasting” estimates and the Survey of Corporate Inflation Expectations (SoFIE). The center also provides educational resources on its “Inflation 101” page and hosts inflation-related events, including the “Inflation: Drivers and Dynamics Conference” to be held at the Cleveland Fed on October 24-25.
