Coastal Humane Society was founded in 1997 as an all-volunteer nonprofit organization to help everyone in the Outer Banks community care for their pets. Twenty-seven years later, thanks to the generosity of the community, the organization has helped more than 11,000 pets on the Outer Banks stay healthy and coexist with people. The program includes low-cost spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, medical assistance, heartworm testing, and pet food and supplies for hurricanes and other community-wide emergencies.
