Congressman Gregory W. Meeks announced $680,700 in federal funding for York University.

“York College is a valuable educational institution in the southeastern Queens community,” said Congressman Meeks. “As a university that serves a largely minority student population, it is important that our students have the funding and tools they need to succeed and be competitive in the workforce. Supporting minority participation leads to a diversity of perspectives that can drive innovation and develop solutions that resonate with different backgrounds.I am committed to developing York University into a world-class STEM institution. I am committed to continuing.”

“We are thrilled that York students will gain research experience using cutting-edge technology under the guidance of our outstanding faculty,” said Dr. Claudia Schroeder, Interim President of York University. “This federal funding will further support our efforts to increase minority representation in STEM fields. We thank you for your unwavering support of our university and our mission. Thank you, Congressman Meeks.”

The DoD HBCU/MI program is designed to strengthen the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) pipeline and improve the research and educational capabilities of HBCUs/MIs.

Congressman Meeks remains committed to supporting the best STEM education and research at York University.
