Thatcher, Ariz. – Eastern Arizona University (EAC) today celebrated the opening of its new Career Services Center. The center is a dedicated resource to prepare students for career success and strengthen connections with local employers. Community leaders, university officials and special guests gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony on the second floor of the EAC Alumni Library.
“The Career Services Center is a critical step in fulfilling EAC’s mission by providing students with the resources they need to successfully transition from education to employment,” said EAC President Todd Haney. I am. “It will also serve as a bridge between EAC and the local business community, giving employers direct access to a skilled talent pool of EAC students ready to take on new job opportunities.”

Speakers at the event emphasized the EAC’s important role in supporting the region’s economic vitality. EAC’s Career Services Center is dedicated to meeting the region’s workforce needs by connecting businesses with qualified candidates.
“EAC is truly an economic engine for our community,” said Corina Pino-Reyes, Graham County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. “In addition to contributing approximately $230 million annually to the local economy, the broader impact of the EAC is noteworthy. For every $1 Arizona invests in the EAC, society receives $9.40 of Gain additional income and social savings. This reflects the wider benefits of having the EAC at the heart of the region.”
At the ceremony, EAC President Todd Haney, EAC Career Pathways Coordinator Ginger Stevenson, EAC Career Services Center Director Alison Villalobos, Arizona@Work Business Services Representative Bobby Reed, Lectures were given by key speakers, including Mexican Consul Rita Vargas Torregrosa. Graham County Community College District Board Member Tina McMaster also attended.
A highlight of the event was Ginger Stevenson’s introduction of Kamron Causen, from Vilas, who was the first student to benefit from the center’s services. With the center’s help, Kosen secured a job on campus, enhanced her resume, and participated in mock interviews in preparation for the role.
EAC’s Career Services Center is made possible by a $2.2 million Regional Higher Education and Economic Development grant from the U.S. Department of Education. It serves as a comprehensive resource for students at all stages of career development, offering services such as career exploration, resume guidance, access to job boards, and hands-on experiences such as internships.
The center also offers job listings, internships, job shadowing opportunities, workforce development workshops and more, providing a valuable resource for employers looking to connect with talented candidates.
“Employers will have access to a pipeline of educated and skilled talent, and students will gain valuable real-world experience that prepares them for their future careers,” Villalobos said. Ta. “We are excited to offer a variety of services to help employers tap into this new talent pool.”
