A group of more than 30 former Physical Fitness staff filed an employment claim in the Labor Court on Monday, with one affected consumer facing a HK$135,000 lawsuit after the gym chain abruptly closed earlier this month. is seeking compensation.

The Mandatory Provident Fund Authority (MPFA) has filed a lawsuit against Physical Chain over unpaid MPF contributions and additional fees totaling HK$3.37 million, as Physical Chain has failed to make payments to the Employees’ Pension Fund since June. was.
As of last Thursday (September 26), the Ministry of Labor had received complaints from approximately 760 employees, most of them regarding unpaid wages and other employment rights claims.
Meanwhile, one of the affected customers received 75 stretching classes worth HK$60,000 and 110 myofascial release classes worth HK$162,000 on July 7 and August 9, 2023. He signed a contract to purchase 100 weight resistance training classes, the warrant alleges.
The plaintiff has already paid in full over HK$220,000, including HK$160,000 from an online virtual bank loan.
However, due to Physical’s sudden closure, the plaintiff was left with 174 unpaid lessons totaling HK$135,000.
The plaintiffs have filed suit to recover their losses, but Physical Fitness has not yet provided refunds or other compensation.
