Uvalde, Texas – Residents and community members gathered Saturday to celebrate good health and access important resources for healthy eating and health care.
On Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., members of the Uvalde community gathered at the Uvalde County Fairplex for the Healthy Fall Festival hosted by the Equality Health Foundation.
The event provided hundreds of residents with healthy bags filled with fresh fruit, produce, charcuterie and other essentials. A total of 1,000 hams were distributed to families in the area.
The event also featured live entertainment, raffles, health education sessions and free health screenings.
The event, which begins the holiday season in a spirit of gratitude and giving, was aimed at supporting those who do not have the opportunity to stay healthy and identifying problems that may exist.
“The Healthy Fall Festival is an opportunity for families to come together and focus on health for the holiday season,” said Thomas Leon, president of the Equal Health Foundation. “By providing resources and nutritious food that support healthier lifestyles, we are helping build a foundation of resilience and vitality in our communities.”
