Baylor Fit Well launched Punch Pass on Sept. 9 as a way to get more students active through fitness classes.
This newly established program allows students with FITPASS to receive a punch pass when attending classes at Baylor Fitwell. Students who receive a punch pass must punch their card 40 times for the remainder of the semester. Four of the classes must be F45, Bear Cycle, Yoga, and a specialty class.
Fitness instructor punches cards at the end of class. If students complete all 40 spots on their pass by Dec. 17, they will be eligible to participate in the “Exclusive Campus Rec SWAG,” according to the Campus Recreation website.
Allie Whitmer, a junior from Wheaton, Illinois, said Punch Pass is an effective way to get students involved in FitWell classes. Whitmer said she usually attends F45, but since she received a punch pass, she plans to try other classes to get punch.
“Every time you go to a workout, you get a punch. So whether it’s F45, a yoga class, a bike class, you get a punch,” Whitmer said. “Once you have all 40, enter into the drawing and one person will be selected to win a free FITPASS so they don’t have to pay $50 to attend a training class next semester.”
Eva Brandt, a third-year student from Torrance, California, said she is hesitant about the punch pass and believes there is not enough time during the semester to take all the punches. Brandt said Punchpasses were issued too late in the semester because students had already taken a large number of fitness classes but were unable to use them towards Punchpasses.
“I go three times a week, and just a few weeks ago, after I had already taken about 10 classes, the cards were handed out,” Brandt said. “I’ve done the math and done the math, and there’s not enough time to throw the 40 punches I need. 40 punches is just not possible.”
