BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, Fla. – Chiara Patelli, a graduate middle blocker from Florida Tech volleyball, was named Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her contributions to the Panthers’ wins over No. 17 Lynn and Palm Beach Atlantic. was selected.
This marks Patelli’s first SSC Player of the Week honor this season and of her career. This is the first offensive honor for Florida Tech volleyball since Milica Tapskovia in 2013.
Patelli had 26 kills and a batting average of .523 during the week. She also contributed on the defensive end, recording 11 blocks and three digs.
The Brescia, Italy native was nearly unable to stop the Panthers’ upset of No. 17 Lin. Patelli had a team-leading 17 kills, 27 attempts with no errors, and a .630 batting average. That percentage ranks sixth all-time in a Panther game.
The Panthers’ win over Lynn was the first time they had beaten the Fighting Knights since the 2017 season, and it was the first time they had beaten Lynn at home since 2015. It was Florida Tech’s first win over a top-20 opponent since Nov. 10. 2015, #17 Florida Southern match.
She took Palm Beach Atlantic by storm the next day, giving another great performance. Patelli totaled nine kills, a .353 batting average, and one assist. Her final kill clinched the third set victory.
Tech’s game against Rollins has been postponed, so the next game will be Saturday, Oct. 12, at 4 p.m. in Barrie.
