GAF, the national roofing company, held a training session at its Fontana facility focused on residential roof construction and the basics of steep-pitched roofs.
GAF Roofing Academy is a tuition-free program that is open to anyone, but specifically targets underrepresented groups such as the formerly incarcerated and ex-military, the news release said.
Graduates will receive certifications and have the opportunity to interview with area contractors for full-time, entry-level jobs in the roofing field, the release states.
Since 2020, the program has trained more than 3,400 people and placed 2,000 people in jobs.
