2024 Arch Award Winners
Arch Award recipients, presented by Piedmont Bank, were recognized Oct. 12 at Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium. ATLANTA and ATHENS, Ga., Oct. 15, 2024 (Globe Newswire) — For the fourth consecutive year, the University of Georgia Athletic Association and Piedmont Bank celebrate former athletes who have pivoted from the field of play to become leaders. CJ Byrd, who earned a bachelor’s degree and then a master’s degree in business, started every game as a junior and senior and played in every game while on campus. He currently serves as the Senior Principal Lead for the Chick-fil-a Corporate Support Center in Atlanta, where he assists new owners and operators opening restaurants. His journey with the restaurant began in 2014 through a temporary role in a leadership development program, and his responsibilities have progressed to where he is today. Prior to joining Chick-fil-a, he worked at UGAA, Metro Atlanta Chamber, and Texas A&M Athletics.
Nick Cassini, the 2001 SEC Player of the Year, two-time All-American, three-time All-SEC honoree and former Nationwide PGA Tour member, is a partner in his namesake company, Cassini Holdings . Previously held leadership roles. He has worked at Ansley Developer Services, IMI Worldwide Properties, Porto Montenegro, and IMI Resort Holdings. Earlier this year, Cassini co-founded a private golf club, The Rose, with fellow golfers Bubba Watson, Brendon Todd and Chris Kirk. He and his wife, Beth, also joined the McGill Society this year.
