For the first time this season, Georgia Tech is entering a bye week. The Yellow Jackets have played five games so far this season and are 3-2 at the first break. They’ll be back on the field next Saturday night against Duke, who has a chance to go undefeated with Bobby Dodd.
Duke/University of North Carolina is one of several schools Georgia Tech fans may want to keep an eye on this weekend. There are a few others.
1. Virginia Tech at Miami, 7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN
Both of these teams are future opponents for the Yellow Jackets. Georgia Tech will travel to Blacksburg to take on the Hokies on Oct. 26, then play the Hurricanes two days later on Saturday at Bobby Dodd. This will be the first ACC game of the season for either team.
2. Duke vs. North Carolina, 4 p.m. ET, ESPN2.
This is a game between the next two opponents on Georgia Tech’s schedule. Duke enters this game with a 4-0 record, while the Tar Heels are looking to recover from allowing James Madison 70 points (more than 50 at halftime). Will Duke remain undefeated when it comes to Atlanta next weekend? Or will North Carolina find a way to beat its biggest rival? This will give you a good idea of the next two opponents on the schedule.
3. Louisville at Notre Dame, 3:30pm ET, Peacock.
One of the toughest games remaining on Georgia Tech’s schedule is against Notre Dame on Oct. 19 in Atlanta. The Fighting Irish haven’t been a consistent team this year, beating Texas A&M in Week 1, then losing to Northern Illinois and then crushing Purdue, but they had an impressive performance last week against Miami (Ohio). He achieved victory. The Cardinals are coming off a win against Georgia Tech.
4. Northern Illinois, North Carolina, 12pm ET, CW Network
Georgia Tech will play North Carolina State in late November, but this weekend will be a big gut-check moment for the Wolfpack, who have been one of the most disappointing teams in the ACC so far this season. The Huskies haven’t been good in any of their games this year, winning against Notre Dame but then losing against Buffalo. Can NC State avoid a loss to NIU? If not, their season could continue to spiral.
5. Alabama, Georgia, 7:30pm ET, ABC
This is the game everyone will be watching on Saturday night, and for Yellow Jackets fans, we will find out if Georgia State will be better than its performance against Kentucky, or if its problems will reappear (especially on offense) It will be an opportunity.
