General Dynamics Information Technology and George Mason University have expanded their partnership to enhance student career development in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, cloud, and software development.

“Expanding our partnership with George Mason demonstrates our commitment to investing in the workforce of the future,” said GDIT President Amy Gilliland. “As Northern Virginia’s largest and most diverse educational institution, George Mason has played a pivotal role in shaping the talent pipeline for more than a decade. We are proud that GDIT is the employer of choice for George Mason students. We look forward to further strengthening our relationship.”

This partnership strengthens GDIT’s commitment to building a pipeline of diverse and skilled technicians in high-demand fields. It’s also at the heart of the company’s technology investment strategy, launched last year, which prioritizes employee growth and upskilling.

GMU President Gregory Washington said the school is consistently ranked among Virginia’s top public universities for diversity, innovation, and programs in cybersecurity, homeland security, and services for veterans and nontraditional students. He said that

“We are collaborating regionally to keep pace with the pace of change in today’s workforce, providing opportunities for students of all ages and backgrounds to receive a rigorous education and lead successful careers, and to provide Virginia with the talent it deserves.” “We are committed to attracting and retaining talent,” he added.

GDIT will collaborate with the College of Engineering and Computing and the Costello College of Business to expand recruitment, mentorship programs, networking, technology open houses, and capstone projects. It also provides opportunities for students, faculty and staff to participate in GDIT events and initiatives and collaborate with the Greg and Camille Baroni Center for Government Contracting.
