The South Jersey Vo-Tech Championships were held this Thursday afternoon at Burlington County Technical College (Medford). After the dust settled, the Gloucester County Institute of Technology (GCIT) boys and girls won both team titles.
In the boys’ individual competition, Julian Rich of Camden V/T (Sicklerville) won with a huge lead in 16 minutes and 46 seconds.
Finishing in second place was senior Connor Auge, who finished with a time of 17 minutes, 38 seconds to start GCIT’s final scoring streak. His team finished in the top four by eighth place and five points lower by 13th place.
With an average of 18:19 and a 1:14 difference between the top five, GCIT won at home with 32 points to Burlington Tech (Medford)’s 53 points. Camden Tech (Sicklerville) came in a close third place as a team with 63 points.
After Auger’s second-place finish, his teammates were as follows: Sophomore Duke Snyder-Sherito was sixth in 18:21, and senior Gavin Kravchuk was seventh in 18:23. Fourth-year student Owen DeLuca took 8th place with a time of 18:26, and final scorer Liam Robles took 13th place with a time of 18:52. .
Men’s Top 10 Individuals
The girls’ individual championship went to Salem County Votech senior Sarah Seiden in 22 minutes, 25 seconds, more than 40 seconds ahead of the other competitors.
GCIT defeated Atlantic County Tech 31-54 to win the team title, with Camden Tech (Sicklerville) in third place with 72 points.
Sophomore Natalie Pandolfo got off to a good start in the championship match with a second-place finish in 23:09. Freshmen Jordan Mochidlovski was fourth in 23:20, Kyra Petro was eighth in 24:05, Sydney Huang was 10th in 24:11 and rounding out the five points was 11 in 24:44. It was Brooklyn Greenwood.
The average time was 23:53, with a 1:35 difference between the top five places.
