MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – University of Wisconsin Health is opening a new medical center in East Park that will house more than 600 staff members.
A grand opening ceremony Tuesday unveiled the 475,000-square-foot, seven-story facility to University of Wisconsin Health staff and partners in advance of the medical center’s start of operations on Oct. 28. This medical complex is the largest medical facility to be completed in the United States. America in 2024.

Many voices were taken into account during the planning stages of the facility to ensure we best served the community.
“We were fortunate to see dozens of physicians, nurses, and administrators come together to plan this space,” said Dr. Peter Newcomer, UW Health Chief Operating Officer. said.
The newcomer said patient advice is also included to make the facility customer-friendly.
The new facility aims to be a single source of medical care, with its mission as “services connected by corridors, not highways.” Patients can expect thorough care for complex conditions such as cancer and specialized care for women, among other medical services.
East Park will offer medical oncology, radiology, and surgical oncology, as well as proton therapy, a high-precision radiation therapy for cancer. East Park will be one of the first facilities in the world to offer upright proton therapy. This treatment option is expected to be available to patients in early 2026.
In his grand opening remarks, Newcomer emphasized the cutting-edge nature of UW Health services.
“We will focus on what makes UW Health unique as an academic health system that leads clinical trials,” Newcomer said.
East Park features more than 1,100 pieces of original art, more than 70% of which are by Wisconsin artists. (WMTV)
In addition to medical services, the health center will also have the largest solar canopy in Wisconsin. Atop the parking structure, 2,064 solar panels will generate 1,260 megawatt-hours of clean energy annually at the East Park location.
