Harris speaks economic policy in Pennsylvania; Trump rally in North Carolina

The Democratic National Committee announced this morning that it will be installing 12 new billboards across North Carolina linking Republican Lt. Governor Mark Robinson, who is running for governor, to President Trump.

One of the signs reads: “Trump’s comments about Mark Robinson: ‘We need to take care of Mark,’ ‘He’s an outstanding person,’ and ‘An incredible gentleman.'”

President Trump endorsed Robinson as his candidate for governor in this election.

Robinson has faced a backlash since last week following reports that he made anti-Semitic and racist comments on a pornography website several years ago, which led to the resignation of several senior members of his campaign.

“There’s a reason Donald Trump has not rescinded his support for Mark Robinson: Trump believes Robinson is a ‘fine gentleman’ who shares Trump’s radical values and a shameful history of spewing hatred, conspiracy theories and election denialism,” Democratic National Committee spokesman Kenny Palmer said. “Unfortunately for Trump, North Carolinians are tired of the chaos and malice of MAGA Republicans and will reject Trump and Robinson’s dangerous plan for our state in November.”

Some of the ads will appear in Greensboro, Wilmington, Raleigh, Asheville and Mint Hill, where Trump is scheduled to hold rallies this afternoon.

Trump campaign spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt told NBC News last week that reports that Trump might withdraw his endorsement of Robinson were false. NBC News has reached out again to the Trump campaign for comment.

North Carolina is considered one of the battleground states that the Harris campaign sees as likely to be contested in the November election.
