Erie, Pennsylvania CNN —
Vice President Kamala Harris slams Republican rival Donald Trump in Pennsylvania on Monday night over the former president’s comments on Election Day that the U.S. military should deal with the “enemy from within.” A Harris campaign official revealed that this is planned.
This is the latest in a series of efforts by Harris’ campaign to further differentiate her from Trump in the final weeks of the presidential campaign, using words from the former president himself and former aides to paint her as dangerous and unstable. This is an example.
Harris will be in Erie on Monday to highlight Trump’s comments on Fox News on Sunday, in which he said he was not concerned about the behavior of his supporters on Election Day.
“I think the bigger problem is the enemy from within,” he said.
“We have some very bad people. We have sick people. We have radical left-wing lunatics,” Trump told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo.
Harris is expected to warn on Monday that Trump’s actions could endanger people’s freedoms. The Harris campaign will also release a new ad called “Enemy Within,” in which President Trump repeatedly quotes the phrase “enemy from within” during his campaign.
The 30-second spot includes two former Trump aides, Olivia Troy, a former aide to former Vice President Mike Pence, and Kevin Carroll, a former Trump homeland security official.
“I remember the day he suggested we shoot people in the street,” Troy says in the ad.
“The second period will be even worse,” Carroll said in the ad. “No one will stop his worst instincts. Unchecked power. There are no guardrails. We elect Trump again, we are in terrible danger.”
Harris also plans to show attendees in Erie what a Trump rally is like, the aide said.
He previously urged voters to pay attention to Trump’s rallies, an unusual move for a candidate that underscores the Harris campaign’s belief that an unqualified Trump will hurt his prospects. It was corroborating.
“In the middle of the meeting you’ll find him talking about fictional characters like Hannibal Lecter. He’s going to talk about windmills causing cancer. And what you’ll also notice is that people are tired and bored. “They’re starting to leave his rallies early,” Harris said during a debate with Trump last month.
Her campaign in recent days has featured Republican lawmakers, including former Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney, speaking out against President Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election and the Jan. 6, 2021 election. It highlighted the attack on the U.S. Capitol by Trump supporters.
Last week, she launched an ad in North Carolina highlighting recent campaign events with Cheney.
“Former generals, the secretaries of defense, the secretaries of the Army, Navy and Air Force, the CIA director, National Security Council leaders under Democratic and Republican presidents, Republican lawmakers, and even former Trump administration officials agree. I “Kamala Harris is leading our country,” the narrator says on the spot.
