How to play technology amidst recent volatility

The Nasdaq (^IXIC) has fallen the most of the three major indexes (^DJI, ^GSPC), so investors may be wondering if now is the time to buy on the bullshit. Jason Brown, President of Alexis Investment Partners, joins Julie Hyman and Josh Lipton to talk about “Market Domination” and discuss how recent volatility can be an opportunity to acquire technology companies. I will.

“There’s been a lot of negative news coming in at the same time as the backlash. If we can look at those as opportunities to increase what we’ve been missing or missing, things tend to work out over time. The other thing to be careful about, especially with technology, is when you’re going into an environment where there’s potential for continued growth, but then there’s more steady revenue growth, or growth. It’s a name with a very attractive balance sheet, which tends to be where people are,” Brown tells the Market Domination team.

He added: “Within this very strong uptrend, we see the correction period in recent months as an overall positive thing.” We were down on growth leading up to this, primarily because, like many people, we wanted to take advantage of the leadership expansion that comes with a more sustained rise. However, we have regularly bought the drop in technology after each of these pullbacks. ”

The portfolio manager said Alexis Investment Partners was using “more indirect exposure than direct purchases,” along with exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that have “significant weightings in these stocks.” He points to the iShares Global 100 ETF (IOO.MX) and the Vanguard Growth ETF (VUG) as vehicles for tech investing. Brown noted that the ETF was “in the context of adding to[real estate investment trust]REITs and comparable weights like the S&P 500 (^SPXEW).” “While I was generally looking to buy the bulls today, I made sure to incorporate some broadly diversified funds with a particular weight in large-cap tech stocks.”

Brown also focuses on “outstanding companies within key sectors.” “In technology, as you might imagine, in addition to owning semiconductor ETFs, we own Apple (AAPL), Google (GOOG, GOOGL), Nvidia (NVDA), and Microsoft (MSFT),” he said. I own it.”
