Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi has provided an update on Lautaro Martínez’s fitness following their 4-0 humiliation at Red Star Belgrade.
As reported by FCInterNews, in the post-match interview the Nerazzurri coach touched on a number of topics, including the Argentine’s late injury scare.
Lautaro Martínez scored his first goal in the UEFA Champions League in the 2024/25 season off the bench.
After an unexpectedly slow start to the season, the Inter Milan captain appears to be back to his best form.
He inspired the reigning Scudetto holders to a 3-2 win away to Udinese last Saturday.
Goals on either side of half-time helped Inter to victory in Serie A after a disastrous derby against AC Milan.
It seemed like it was only a matter of time before Martinez hit the purple spot again.
Last season’s Capokanneuer winner took just seven minutes to play in the Champions League against Red Star.
But Inzaghi was seen clutching his thighs during the final stretch, sending shivers down his spine.
Fortunately for Inter supporters, it’s not anything serious, at least according to the manager.

“Yes, I saw him touching his thigh in the last minutes,” Inzaghi said. “He said he shot the classic ‘old lady,’ which shouldn’t be a problem.”
Martinez got the Inter faithful used to scoring goals.
Now it’s time for Mehdi Taremi and Marko Arnautovic to follow in their captain’s footsteps.
Both strikers made their breakthroughs this season tonight. Taremi and Arnautovic never ceased to amaze as they started together for the first time.
Coach Inzaghi praised the duo, saying, “I forget it was the first time they played together, but they have convinced me in the last few days.”
“They are strong and played a great game, as well as the other players who have played less, so it’s great news, let’s keep it going.
“I feel quite satisfied.”
Inzaghi also praised his team’s efforts, especially the high turnover rate.
“Seeing the focus of the team, we all expected a win, but we had to earn it with run and determination on the pitch.
“We had to follow up the game in Manchester, otherwise everything would have been null and void.
“It’s a long and difficult journey.”
