Ryan Jensen showed his durability last season with the Minnesota Twins’ Triple-A St. Paul affiliate, appearing in a career-high 44 games, 41 of which came as a relief pitcher.
The former Salinas High School multi-sport athlete recorded a career-high four wins in the minor leagues and struck out 81 batters in 56 innings pitched.
Jensen, a first-round draft pick by the Chicago Cubs in 2019, finished the season with a 4.76 ERA and struck out just three batters, the lowest of his career.
Jensen, a talented pitcher with a fastball approaching 100 mph, spent parts of last season with the Cubs and Mariners’ Triple-A teams before being released.
The right-handed starter-turned-relief pitcher has a career record of 11-24 with 328 strikeouts and a 4.49 ERA in five minor league seasons at four different levels.
Jensen went 12-1 as a senior at Fresno State in 2019, being named Mountain West Pitcher of the Year and a second-team All-American.
The 6-foot-tall player didn’t commit an error on the field in two years and earned all-county honors in football and baseball at Salinas.
