The Lake Trust Foundation, an independent arm of Lake Trust Credit Union (Lake Trust), announced the 2024 recipients of the New Beginnings Scholarship and the Michigan Impact Scholarship. These scholarships are designed to help Michigan residents advance their education and pursue careers in high-demand, growing industries.
“At Lake Trust, we believe in the power of education and its ability to promote economic well-being. Our scholarship program expands access to educational opportunities and provides opportunities for Michigan residents at any point in their lives. But it’s about opening new doors and giving people the opportunity to pursue their passions,” said Brandalyn Winchester Middlebrook, Treasurer of the Lake Trust Foundation. “As 2024 scholarship recipients, these five individuals will be able to continue on the path to the careers they have always wanted while supporting economic growth in communities across the state.”

Our continued support , reflects our commitment to fostering economic prosperity through education.”
2024 New Beginnings Scholarship Winners
Four recipients were awarded the 2024 New Beginnings Scholarship and each received $7,500. This scholarship can be used for a variety of educational expenses, including tuition, trade equipment, professional dues, and certifications. New Beginnings Scholarships are designed to support Michigan residents pursuing education or careers in high-demand technical or trade fields, such as electrical work, HVAC, construction, welding, plumbing, and nursing. The 2024 award winners are:
Mikala Sposito of Dexter, Michigan – Studying Welding and Technology at Washtenaw Community College, Mikala aims to become a welding artist and teacher. Tameka Singleton, Southfield, Michigan – Pursuing a nursing degree at Oakland University, Tameka aims to serve her community by providing compassionate care. Emily Wilson of Holt, Michigan, is a dental hygiene student at Lansing Community College who works to improve oral health awareness and access in underserved communities. Addison Lovell of Pinckney, Michigan – Addison, who is studying nursing at Saginaw Valley State University, aims to provide comfort and peace to patients in the hospital.
2024 Michigan Impact Scholarship Winners
In partnership with Cleary College, the Michigan Impact Scholarship provides a tuition-free pathway for incoming students starting their undergraduate or graduate studies at Cleary College in fall 2024. This scholarship will give preference to applicants pursuing fields that align with in-demand careers in Michigan through 2030. Focus on cultivating the state’s talent pipeline and supporting economic vitality.
This year, the Lake Trust Foundation awarded one full-tuition scholarship to Tim Ambrose of Canton, Michigan. Ambrose served in the Michigan National Guard for nine years and is returning to school to earn a bachelor’s degree in business, the cornerstone of a long career as a truck driver. He later hopes to earn a master’s degree and work as a business leader in his community, inspiring his family and others to follow their dreams in the process.
