LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – Laredo ISD is still administering flu vaccines to students. The final rounds of influenza clinics are being held at various schools. Nurses say they are bringing about 200 vaccines to each campus they visit.
Lori Skiles, a registered nurse at Bruni Elementary School, said the flu vaccine helps keep children healthy and prevents them from missing school. “We go to all schools. We go to elementary school, middle school and high school, so it’s very convenient for working parents. Children in first grade and above can receive the vaccine without a parent accompanying them. , so if you have trouble making a doctor’s appointment, you can fill out a consent form and get vaccinated at school,” Skiles said.
Parents should ask for a consent form before going to their child’s school flu clinic. You can also participate when your child receives their vaccinations. For questions about influenza vaccination, parents should call their child’s school. The clinic will continue until October 18th.
