Latest virus vaccines available in Idaho ahead of peak disease season

The latest COVID-19 vaccines are now available at pharmacies and clinics across the state. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that people 6 months and older receive this vaccine in 2024-2025.

Infectious disease expert Dr. Christine Hahn recommends checking Vaccines.gov to find the latest vaccinations near you.

“Obviously, a lot of people have a GP that they go to for these vaccinations, and you can also call them, but availability seems to be pretty good. I’ve put in my postcode. We’re lucky to live in an area with a lot of pharmacies, but everyone in the state should be able to do that and see what’s available,” Hahn said.

Hahn said the main viruses expected to spread this fall are COVID-19, influenza and RSV, and vaccines are available for these three viruses. .

“With so much going on in our busy lives, this is a reminder that the coronavirus can continue to cause fairly serious illness. Until now, vaccination Those who have not received the vaccine may strongly consider getting it,” Hahn said.

Idaho law prohibits employers from requiring employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to work. But Dr. Hahn said doctors still recommend getting the coronavirus vaccine like any other vaccination during peak disease season.
