Former President Donald Trump responded to Vice President Kamala Harris’ calls for his medical records to be released after she released a summary of them over the weekend, saying the vice president “looked at my cholesterol levels.” “I’m looking forward to it,” he said.

“I’ve had more medical exams than any president in history,” Trump said on Truth Social, attacking Harris over some of her medical history made public in a summary provided by her office. .

President Trump also attacked Harris’ medical records, saying her history of seasonal allergies and hives are “obviously serious conditions that impact her ability to function.”

Harris accused President Trump of not releasing his medical records at a rally in Greenville, North Carolina, on Sunday, telling the audience: He is not transparent. So check this out — he refuses to release his medical records. i did it. Every other presidential candidate in modern times is doing it. He is unwilling to give an interview on 60 Minutes, as candidates from other major parties have done for more than half a century. He is reluctant to meet for a second debate. ”

On Saturday, the White House released a letter summarizing Harris’ medical history from Dr. Joshua R. Simmons, the vice president’s personal physician and military surgeon, saying that Harris is in “excellent health.”

Details about Harris’ medical history: Harris has seasonal allergies and hives, and is nearsighted, Simmons’ letter said. All of her vaccinations and preventive medical screenings are up to date, Simmons said, and a recent physical exam in April and routine blood tests give her nothing to worry about.

The vice president wears contact lenses, takes vitamin D3 supplements, and sometimes uses over-the-counter and prescription allergy medications such as Allegra, nasal spray, and eye drops, Simmons wrote. Simmons said Harris’ diet is “very healthy,” adding that Harris does not use tobacco products and only drinks alcohol “occasionally and in moderation.”

Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN’s chief medical correspondent, said what the letter doesn’t say is “in some ways the most remarkable.” “He has no history of diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, lung disease or cancer,” Mr.

For context: The medical conditions that affected Harris, such as hives, allergic rhinitis, and allergic conjunctivitis, and that Trump pointed out in his truthful social posts, are not considered serious and are unlikely to affect anyone’s perception. It has no impact. According to the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, hives, a type of skin disease, “affects 20% of people at some point during their lifetime.”

Trump’s medical history: The Trump campaign released a letter from his doctor in November 2023 stating that Trump was in “excellent health,” but the letter included no information about the tests Trump had undergone. No information about type or outcome was included. Notably, it did not include basic information that Trump’s doctors have shared in the past, such as height, weight, cholesterol levels and blood pressure.
