Flu season is here again. To improve local public health, two local hospitals are offering drive-thru flu shots.

Vaccinations are free, but those with insurance such as Medicaid or Medicare must bring their insurance card, according to the release.
“The influenza vaccine is updated annually to provide the best protection against the virus,” Dr. Miranda Durham, chief medical officer of health, said in a news release. “Getting you and your family vaccinated each year can help reduce your chances of getting sick, missing work or school, and developing serious illness.”
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that 140,000 to 710,000 people are hospitalized with influenza and 12,000 to 52,000 die from influenza each year in the United States.
