LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Louisville organization strives to advance the status of women in the workforce through professional attire, development tools and other support.
What you need to know Dress for Success Louisville has been around for over 20 years
The goal is to help women achieve financial independence through professional attire, development tools, and other support.
The organization serves 12 counties in Kentucky and four counties in southern Indiana.
Dress for Success focuses on women from all walks of life and prepares them for their careers.
It’s all part of Dress for Success’ mission to help women succeed in work and life.
Volunteer and ambassador Jeanne Freibert said confidence was key and the new costumes had all of that.
“Being a personal shopper is really amazing. I went from being a woman who was insecure and downtrodden to having this beautiful suit and interview-worthy stuff and being ready to go out and meet women, no matter what the interview is. It’s really amazing to see the changes that women are making in the world,” Freibert said.
Dress for Success focuses on women from all walks of life and prepares them for their careers.
Executive director Billie-Jo Abey said the experience is similar to a high-end boutique. Women who come into the store are paired with a stylist and are kept waiting hand and foot.
“We provide everything you need from head to toe to look and feel confident for your interview, including makeup accessories, interview attire, shoes, handbags, jewelry, and more. “We’re working hard,” Avey said. When you come back, you’ll get five free outfits, or a week’s worth of clothes. ”
Dress for Success serves 12 counties in Kentucky and four counties in southern Indiana. Both Avi and Freibert said the free service gives women confidence and the tools they need to succeed.
“Despite the many disadvantages and obstacles in my life, being able to finally face the world and feel like I have a path forward is being a part of it. That’s really amazing,” Freibert said.
Dress for Success is in the process of adding manufacturing and trade items and a new technology center with 10 workstations for hands-on resume writing classes, along with other programs . Stock sales will take place on November 14th and November 16th, with all proceeds going back to free program services. The next donation date will be Saturday, January 18, 2025.
