GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – The Mesa County Behavioral Health Department has expanded its opportunities to help the community connect to mental health services with the opening of a new building.
On Friday, they held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil a new office building near downtown. The event included speeches by Sheriff’s Office and St. Mary’s Hospital officials and a tour of the facility. Additionally, a short film highlighting the role of behavioral health in the community was shown.
Mesa County Behavioral Health Director Lisa Mills said of the unveiling of the new facility:
“One of the things that I really hope this shows is that, first of all, the administration, the county administration and their efforts and goals are not something that we can just go away with. We’re investing in a building with a sign that has staff, and we believe in this commitment, and we believe that it’s not going to go away anytime soon, just like we’re here and we’re here to stay.”
This project has been in the works for two years and staff are excited to have more space to work more efficiently.
