China: To celebrate the 45th anniversary of Hong Kong’s subway service, MTR Corp is offering 45 scholarships to local students pursuing careers in the railway sector.
Applications for the HK$5 million Ride to Success program will open in January 2025. The program aims to reward students with “excellent academic performance, a passion for community service, and a strong interest in the railroad field.”
25 awards for undergraduate students in engineering, transportation and logistics-related programs at eligible local public-funded universities and self-funded higher education institutions, and for diploma and advanced diploma students at MTR Academy. 20 awards will be awarded. The prize will cover full tuition fees as well as a variety of training opportunities including railway-related activities hosted by MTR.
“Young people are the future leaders of our society,” Gil Mellor, director of legal and governance at MTR Corp., said on October 23. “Through this project, we want to encourage young people to unleash their potential and develop more talent in the engineering field,” and the railway sector.
