Check out our overview of this celebration.

Located on the third floor of Balsema Hall, this new laboratory represents the University’s commitment to experiential learning and cutting-edge technology. Through real-world projects in partnership with HAVI, business students prepare for future careers.

This lab provides industry-relevant, hands-on learning experiences in artificial intelligence and analytics, including machine learning, blockchain, big data, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
and data visualization.

“We are excited to partner with the NIU College of Business to launch the HAVI Center for Analytics and Technology,” said Rodney Brown, HAVI’s senior vice president and chief supply chain officer. said. “This initiative will make a huge difference for HAVI and our partners, as well as NIU students and future data analytics leaders. Our success as an organization depends on attracting and retaining top talent. HCAT will be a key part of the Huskies’ strategy to attract top talent to HAVI. Access to top faculty researchers will also help HAVI achieve the highest standards in the areas of analytics and supply chain. It allows us to stay at the forefront of solving challenges and provide access to the latest technology in the field.”

He added, “NIU’s commitment to innovation in the field of data analytics makes it an ideal partner in this effort.”

HAVI, a global leader in supply chain analytics solutions, recognizes the need for intellectual talent in the field of AI and analytics and is making significant financial and engagement commitments to this project. HAVI’s values align with our university’s mission to prepare young people to become leaders who transform the world.

“There has been a lot of buzz about this new space in our building, and we are very grateful to our partner HAVI for making an incredibly generous investment in our students. We look forward to the office becoming a hub for collaboration with other technology-rich disciplines across the NIU campus, and are excited to share these cutting-edge resources with all Husky students. ” said Dean Joanne Phillips Hernandez. .

The College of Business’ Operations Management Information Systems (OM&IS) department plays a critical role in bringing together talent from across the university and campus to realize the lab’s vision.

Our College of Business is committed to providing students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the rapidly evolving field of data analysis. The establishment of the HAVI Analytical Technology Center demonstrates this commitment and is an important step forward for our university.

“The HAVI Analytical Technology Center is specifically used for projects as it has eight pods that allow four students to collaborate on a shared 32-inch monitor. One of the coolest items is the ‘BenQ’ . This is an 86-inch monitor that you can write on, draw on, and then erase later. This is similar to the technology that networks use to illustrate plays on live screens during soccer broadcasts,” said Charles Petersen, Chairman of the Ministry of OM&IS.

“Our students are excited to know they will have access to these spaces, and the possibilities beyond the classroom and the alumni and business professionals who care about them and want them to succeed. It also opens your eyes to what is out there,” he said.
