RALEIGH, N.C. – No. 19 Virginia Tech fell to a 0-0 tie with North Carolina State on Thursday night at Dale Soccer Field.

Technological University tied the game for its ninth shutout victory of the season.

In the first half, it was a defensive battle between both teams. The best moment of the Hokies’ opener came in the 28th minute, when Taylor Price headed a cross from Sarah Rosenbaum, but the Wolfpack goaltender made a diving save.

Tech’s offense generated momentum in the second half, with the team converting six corner kicks. Natalie Mitchell took the lead in the 78th minute with a great shot from just outside the box 18 yards, but it just missed.

The Hokies took a series of corner kicks in the 83rd minute, but were unable to find the net.

Tech has nine shutouts this season and has held opponents to one run or less in 13 of 16 games.
