Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats always displays a strong mix of performance-oriented center consoles at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. This year’s event, held in the South Florida city from October 30 to November 3, is no different for Cape Coral. Florida company. Of the six models the builder plans to display (two indoors, four outdoors), five are center consoles. This includes the 390 Sport center console No. 500, which is the flagship model and represents a major milestone for the builder.

But the star of Nor-Tech, at least as far as the new model on display is concerned, is a 40-foot catamaran powered by four Mercury Racing 500R outboards and called the 4000 Supercat. The company modified the existing hull for a 40-foot vessel, but added a new deck with cockpit seating for up to 10 people, a cabin, and a bathroom. The boat has an 11-foot beam.

“This is based on our original concept for the 4000 Roadster, which meant a complete offshore boat with deep tunnels and lots of creature comforts,” said the company’s co-founder and president. Tron Xu explained. “We have already received several orders.

“This is a completely different direction than what other builders have gone in with outboard cats, and we’re giving it enough power to handle all that weight,” he added. .

To that end, the 40-foot-long vessel has a fuel capacity of 250 gallons.

The new model is based on an existing catamaran hull modified for outboard power.

“For the first time, I purposefully went on a boat with a full tank of fuel and the equivalent of 10 people’s weight,” says Peter, who co-owns Nortech dealership Double R Performance with his brother Raymond, who lives in a Toronto suburb.・Mr. Roberts said. ,Canada. “Honestly, this is the first outboard-powered cat over 30 feet long that I’ve ever been impressed with. It actually accelerates even when it’s not empty, and it accelerates hard when it’s full of fuel and people. and has the best rough water ability of any outboard cat over 30 feet long that I have experienced.”

The cat will be displayed on the outdoor pier, as will Nor-Tech’s most popular offering, the 390 Sport’s No. 500 hull. Thanks to customers at Midwest Boat Center, the builder will also be displaying a 450 Sport center console at the dock. A 340 Sport completes your outdoor display.

Nor-Tech will be displaying the SuperFish center console at the show’s convention floor, but the maker isn’t sure whether it will be a 39-foot or 45-foot version. For the first time, the company will also install a 400 SS center console at an indoor venue.

Henrik Malgaard, the company’s chief operating officer, said: “In the past, we have displayed a center console set up for fishing at the convention center.” “We wanted to show 40 to a different audience, so we decided to bring it indoors.”

Commenting on the new model, Schuh said: “It’s based on our original concept of the 4000 Roadster, which means a complete offshore boat with deep tunnels and lots of comfort.”
