FLORENCE, Alabama — TJ Smith threw for 207 yards, four touchdowns and a run as North Alabama defeated Utah Tech 60-14 on Saturday.
Smith threw scoring passes to Caleb Heatherly, Dakota Warfield, Javian Allen and Jalen Fletcher of 8, 23, 19 and 55 yards, respectively. Smith and his receiver quartet made it 53-0 just after the midway point of the third quarter when Smith knocked down two shots.
Ben Harris hit from 1 and extended the lead to 60, capping off a 10-play, 75-yard drive from late third to fourth.
Utah Tech avoided a shutout as Bronson Barben scored touchdowns of 39 and 75 yards on back-to-back drives to Alec Burton and Bryce Parker.
It was the second matchup between UNA (2-5, 2-1 United Athletic) and Utah Tech (0-6, 0-2).
In last year’s meeting, the Lions won 31-30 in a thriller at Braley Stadium. With this loss, Utah Tech has now lost 11 games in a row.
