75th WHO Regional Committee Side Event
One Health is a holistic approach endorsed, validated and integrated by the World Health Organization (WHO), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Office for Animal Health (WOAH), and United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). It focuses on addressing health challenges at the human-animal-ecosystem interface. Achieving this will require a collaborative multidisciplinary effort involving key stakeholders to address emerging health risks at this critical interface. Protecting human health is only possible if we also protect the health of animals, plants, and the environment.
This side event at the 75th session of the WHO Western Pacific Regional Committee will examine global and regional One Health efforts, highlight country experiences and encourage countries to develop multidisciplinary initiatives to implement One Health. It serves as a dialogue to learn how we have approached the adjustment. . The event will build on existing mechanisms and address current challenges in the Western Pacific region. It will feature insights into Brunei Darussalam and Vanuatu’s successful One Health efforts, and provide guidance from WHO on support available to member states.
This is a unique opportunity to share experiences and foster coordinated action to address complex health threats at the human-animal-environment interface. All participants at the regional committee meeting are invited to participate in the side event.
