Nearly 200 people picked up paddles to participate in the Move 4 Heather Pickleball Tournament at the Veterans Affairs Academy last weekend, raising $20,000 for brain tumor research.

The tournament was hosted by Marblehead Pickleball and Friends of Marblehead Basketball. Funds raised will be donated to the Heather Walker Glioblastoma Foundation. Walker succumbed to the disease in April 2023 after raising about $700,000 for research through the Move4Heather Foundation. Her family and friends continue to raise money and raise awareness.

“Heather’s strength, determination, and motivation to do something to research a cure (and start Move4Heather) while undergoing treatment was a great honor,” said Lauren Andriano of Friends of Marblehead Basketball. She inspired us to help reach her goal of raising $1 million for Move4Heather.”
