Arsenal: Saka: ‘He’s progressing really well’
“He’s developing really well, he’s achieved some things in the last two days,” Arteta said.
“He was not healthy enough to play in the second match of the national team, but we are hopeful. We have training this afternoon. He practiced a little yesterday, so he will be on time. Let’s see if we can make it in time.”
“There is a good chance that Kai Havertz will be fit and available,” Arteta added after Kai Havertz missed international duty with Germany due to injury.
Arsenal will decide whether to “take a risk” with Gabriel Martinelli after he missed Brazil’s 4-0 win over Peru due to injury.
However, it will be too early for Martin Odegaard. The Arsenal captain has been absent since September 9, but Arteta confirmed the midfielder will return before the next international break in three weeks.
“He will not be suitable for this game,” Arteta said. “Next week is going to be a different story. I think next week will be important to see how close he is.”
Ben White, Julian Timber and Oleksandr Zinchenko all remain sidelined, but Arteta said: “Three of them are pretty close.”
Manchester United: Maynou will be out for ‘several weeks’ with muscle injury
Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Coby Mainoo and Harry Maguire will miss Manchester United’s game against Brentford on Saturday.
However, full-back Nousser Mazraoui is available for selection after battling illness.
“Coby and Harry will be out for a few weeks, but Mazraoui is good news,” Ten Hag said.
“He’s back on the training pitch and will be available tomorrow. Injuries don’t help, but we certainly need players who can perform.”
Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo have missed international duty with Argentina and Ivory Coast respectively, and although they have returned to training, their availability for this weekend’s matches is doubtful.

Chelsea: James in contention against Liverpool
Manager Enzo Maresca has admitted that Reece James has a chance to feature in the away game against Liverpool at the weekend, adding that he has a squad that is well suited for him.
This will be James’ first competitive match of the 2024/25 season after suffering an injury during pre-season.
“We have all the players available, except for the suspended players,” Maresca said at a press conference on Friday.
“(James) is available. He’s finally back. He’s been working with us all through the international break and it’s good news for him, especially since he’s not feeling well with the injury. So, finally he’s back. i’m back.”
Tottenham Hotspur: Son and Richarlison return looming
Ange Postecoglou is hopeful that the attacking duo of Son Heung-min and Richarlison will be fit and available for Spurs’ London derby against West Ham United, which will be broadcast live on TNT Sport and Discovery Plus.
Son has not featured since being sent off in Tottenham’s 3-0 Europa League win over Qarabag on September 26, while Richarlison has been sidelined since late August.
“Sonny and Richie have done a good job and trained with the group, which is a real plus for us,” Postecoglou said.
“Sonny was always going to hopefully get through this international break and be ready, and Richie has done a good job as well, so I hope they’ll both be able to compete at the weekend.”

Aston Villa: Mings returns from ACL injury
Tyrone Mings and Boubakar Kamara have both been declared fit by manager Unai Emery as Villa face Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday.
Mings has missed more than 400 days since suffering a torn cruciate ligament in August 2023.
“Of course they are gradually getting better,” Emery told reporters on Friday.
“Kamara and Mings are available for this game and they’ll be going for the challenge with us against Fulham. I think it’s the first time this year that they’re all more or less fit to play.”
