Hope Roe survived adrenocortical cancer, which affects one in a million people each year. Now she is trying to raise $1 million for further research.
WASHINGTON — One woman’s story of survival, courage and advocacy inspires us.
After months of unexplained symptoms and a misdiagnosis of lupus, Hope Roe, a Maryland mother of three, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC). I am a 2 year survivor. This type of cancer is so rare that it affects only about 1 in 1 million people in the United States each year.
Because ACC is so rare, there is very little funding for research. However, Law was determined to fight without giving up. She currently passionately promotes ACC research and awareness. Her goal is to ensure that adrenal cancer research is prioritized.
Lowe has started a nonprofit called the Adrenal Cure Collective, which is asking 1 million people to donate just $1 in hopes of raising $1 million to fund life-saving research.
If you want to get more involved, Adrenal Cure Collective has several events scheduled in the DC area. The 2024 ACC Warrior Weekend will be held the weekend of October 31st and will include a celebration for survivors and people fighting ACC and their friends and family, an ACC patient panel for people to share their stories, and Adrenaline Rush 5K Race will be held. Raise funds for research and awareness.
