Our leaders can build us up or tear us all down
Belfast, Maine: Don’t make important decisions based on anger. In doing so, many wars were started that forever scarred everyone involved. Governments have always been corrupted by money and the power that comes with it. Politicians change in the system, but big money is always there.
We Americans must take some of the responsibility for allowing America to tighten its grip on our country. We gain strength by taking responsibility rather than blaming or complaining. Every once in a while, someone comes along who captures that anger and uses it to their advantage. We have a man who has vowed to destroy his enemies and tear everything apart if elected. Anger over government dysfunction may tempt us to destroy governments rather than root out the evils of money, but looking at dictatorships around the world, we see how difficult it is to return to democracy once we return to democracy. It might be a good idea to see if it’s difficult. It fell.
It is only through citizen action at the ground level that we can preserve what works and eliminate what doesn’t. Three things are hurting our country right now: a lack of civility toward our neighbors, the degree to which money controls everything, and climate change that threatens the future of our children right before our eyes.
Tuesday, November 5 Who will give “We the People” the best chance to act from the ground up, to take responsibility for the change we want? To build, not to destroy? ? Chris Wright
dictator’s dream
East Meadow, Louisiana: President Donald Trump said, “We need a general like Hitler,” according to former White House chief of staff John Kelly. The only reason someone would need a general like Hitler is if they were trying to do what Hitler did. The choice is clear. Elect Kamala Harris as president. Otherwise, the violent and demented dictator Trump will terminate our constitutionally protected rights, or worse. Richard Skibbins
Already started
Bronx: I hope the American people will listen and heed the words of the generals they worked closely with during Donald Trump’s presidency. There is a dire warning. Additionally, Trump has made it clear that he intends to imprison the “enemy” and use the US military if necessary. If this man becomes president, America will never be America again. He has already changed America. We stormed the Capitol and saw hundreds of police officers being hit with all kinds of objects. President Trump calls January 6th “Day of Love.” America has always had peaceful transfers of power. Poll workers are now feared, and armed guards are required at polling places. This is what Trump and his allies have accomplished. We will be ruled by a tinhorn dictator from whom no one can escape. pauline graham binder
loser mindset
COLLEGE POINT: President Trump called John McCain and American soldiers of World War I killed or captured the losers. Since Jesus was crucified, he certainly considers Jesus a loser, and he also considers himself a loser based on his many court losses and bankruptcies. Regardless of future election results, he is the ultimate incoherent mental loser. He could make the country a loser. Let’s hope he never gets the chance!Reginald Swift
terrifying sight
Queens Village: If you’ve got a Halloween pumpkin but can’t find the time or energy to carve a face, why not take a picture of the great orange man, Donald Trump, and place it on top of your pumpkin? What do you think? Well, I ask you: what could be more terrifying than this? Lawrence Krasner
decisive decision maker
Howard Beach: Don’t be fooled! Would you want to vote for someone who couldn’t run for president? Should another man represent her in the debate? Who took nearly four years to stop immigrants from entering the country illegally? Who is going to listen to other men telling her what she should do to run this country? If she were elected, could you imagine her telling foreign leaders what to do to resolve a war that would lead to World War III? A homeless New Yorker walking down the street? , immigrants receive money, health benefits, and housing, even though many are arrested for violating the law. Trump has a lot of appeal, I agree, but he doesn’t need another man to speak for him. When Trump speaks, others will listen. And when he says stop the war, the war stops! Nick Di Pasquale
contradictory
Montebello, New York: I have never seen such breathtaking hypocrisy. In “Hostile Interference” (Editorial, Sept. 6), you accuse Russia and Iran of interfering in the presidential election, but in “We’re Spying on Albany” (Editorial, Sept. 6), you accuse Russia and Iran of interfering in the presidential election. 6) condemns any investigation into Iranian interference. Because it was done by the Trump administration, our ally China. And this is how our enemies will ultimately win. By the hypocrisy of the victim. Warrington M. Simpson Jr.
mix-up
Peekskill, New York: Wednesday’s guest column by Ken Friedman was completely wrong (“Harris furious over President Trump’s McDonald’s visit” editorial, October 23). He writes that in the 2004 election, Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry lost to incumbent President George Herbert Walker Bush by a margin of 2.5 percentage points. Wrong! Mr. Kerry lost that election to GHWB’s son, incumbent George W. Bush. Of course, the older Mr. Bush won the presidency in 1988, but lost to Bill Clinton in 1992. Please understand history correctly! Stephen J. Bevacqua
the silent victim
BROOKLYN: To voice actor James Baldwin: You mentioned that many people were in a threatening situation on the subway by homeless people, but apparently everyone was able to get out on their own without killing anyone. is. The reason the voices of those who were unable to escape from danger without killing others are not being heard is because they have died: 6 in 2020, 8 in 2021, 10 in 2022. 5 in 2023 and 3 so far this year. steve miller

Still good
Carmel, NY: Good news in these difficult economic times. Billions of dollars in gift cards remain unused in the United States. However, by law, expired gift cards can be exchanged within nine years of expiration. Notify your card issuer and they will provide you with a replacement card. Susan McCormack

Freeport, Louisiana: Voice actress Trudy Mansfield called out a myopic oversight in health care planning. Shingles vaccinations are not typically covered by Medicare or private plans, even though the virus can force victims out of action for months and into extended care facilities for the rest of their lives. . However, plans often cover treatment with powerful narcotics. Virtually all adults can die from secondary symptoms of chickenpox, a very common childhood disease. After watching my mother die a tragic and excruciating death, I thought a $250 shot was a bargain. bob starner
make a plan
SANFORD, Fla.: Voice actress Trudy Mansfield complains that she doesn’t have a Part D Medicare drug plan so preventive vaccines aren’t covered. Unfortunately, if you have not signed up for a Part D plan and paid your premiums, you are not entitled to these benefits. If you choose a cheaper alternative, you will get more bang for your buck. Perhaps the DEA option is not the best. It may not cost you anything now, but you’ll end up paying for additional services later. This is a very simple choice and is completely fine with the system. Insufficient overview
Brooklyn: Voice actor Pete McKenna asks some very smart and intelligent questions about monthly employment data. Governments and news organizations will never tell you the whole truth. Are the jobs full time or part time? Are they minimum wage or high paying? Are they contractual or permanent? Are they unionized? Or is it a non-union job?A job with benefits? Most importantly, the list of states that will actually lose jobs has never been made public. That’s right, Pete. Someone is lying and not telling the whole truth. Monthly employment reports are just advertising. joseph savino
