Saranac Central School District unveils brand new fitness center

In the Saranac Central School District, the training room has a brand new look. The district received a $100,000 grant to improve its fitness center. The funding was provided by the National Governor’s Fitness Council Foundation and is part of a nationwide program that donates funds to schools to improve their training rooms. Saranac was one of three New York schools to receive a grant from NFFGFC. Saranac Superintendent Javier Perez said the school has done everything in its power to make sure students have the best equipment for exercise. “It’s just state-of-the-art equipment,” Perez said. “We can’t afford that in a normal school budget, so it’s a huge amount for this district.” NFFGFC President Jake Steinfeld, an 80’s fitness icon who teaches kids about physical fitness. We know the importance of keeping it in top condition. . That’s his main motivation for starting “Don’t Quit!” program. “This is about our children, this is about our future,” Steinfeld said. “If our children leave, this country will perish. We need to make our children strong, not just physically, but mentally, and keep them that way.” A group of Saranac students were the first to do so. Among them is Saranac University senior Brenna Ducat, who plans to use the weight room for strength training for the school’s varsity girls volleyball and basketball teams. “It’s a great feeling to have a real car there,” Ducat said. “Most of our previous weights were free dumbbells, so it’s great to bring in machines to focus on form.” The school district could open the fitness center to the public in town, which is part of the fitness center. “It’s truly a state-of-the-art facility,” Perez said. “With normal school budgeting, we can’t afford this. So it’s a huge amount for this district.”

NFFGFC President Jake Steinfeld is an ’80s fitness icon who knows the importance of keeping kids in tip-top shape. That’s his main motivation for starting “Don’t Quit!” program.

“This is about our children, this is about our future,” Steinfeld said. “If our children leave, this country will perish. We need to make them strong and keep them strong, not just physically but mentally.”

A group of Saranac students had the opportunity to test the equipment first, and it received mostly positive reviews. Among them is Saranac University senior Brenna Ducat, who plans to use the weight room for strength training for the school’s varsity girls volleyball and basketball teams.
