He posted a photo on Instagram of himself smiling ear to ear on his way to the stage, with the caption: “Hang out with me…and I’ll say it again, I’m grateful, it could have gone either way, and I’m still alive…” Back in August, the Texas rap legend was admitted to the hospital while in hospital. He posted a photo of himself lying in bed on Instagram. He had just undergone open heart surgery and was admitted to the ICU at Houston Methodist Hospital.
This isn’t Scarface’s first health scare. The 53-year-old received a kidney transplant in 2021 and was on dialysis a year earlier due to kidney failure caused by COVID-19. The new kidney came courtesy of his son and tour manager, Chris Jordan. Faith Mob, a senior citizen, expressed her gratitude on Instagram Live. “I’m so proud of you. I love you so much. You saved my life, Musaf,” he told his son. “You belittle Musaf—a. You’re selfish. I won’t let you die. Things like that won’t kill me. I’m going to cry in front of so many people on Instagram Live. There is no.”
After recovering from kidney donation, Chris founded the Wayne C. Wilson Quality of Life Foundation. “Now that I’m on this side of recovery, I want to raise awareness about organ donation in the community,” he said in a statement. “I want to teach the importance of staying healthy in the African American community. We have high blood pressure and diabetes, both of which can lead to kidney failure. Prevention and I want to focus on quality of life.”
