This is the first time the school has held a ceremony to award scrubs to students, saying they want to “celebrate their accomplishments.”
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — On Tuesday, 130 second-year students at Seneca High School Health Academy earned their medical scrubs.
This program is one of dozens across Jefferson County Public Schools that help students prepare for graduation.
One of the teachers involved in the program told WHAS11 News how important the school’s academy is to the students and to the community as a whole.
“We just increased our number of instructors from two to three this year because we had so many instructors,” said educator Sarah Buchanan. “Scrubs are well known in the community. As I walk around in my scrubs on Tuesdays, the health sciences program here is well known. Seneca is a strong leader in the health community here.”
This is the first time the school has held a ceremony to award scrubs to students, saying they want to “celebrate their accomplishments.”
“The students I talk to all day long really have goals,” Buchanan said. “Some of them are already working in health care in assisted living facilities and doing internships in college and at Norton. So we’re really proud of our kids. They’re really proud of our kids. goes to the Masonic Home and does many great things here.”
The program’s partner, Masonic Homes of Kentucky, helps pay for the scrubs and hires several students each year to work in senior living facilities.
